Hurricane Long Gone --But – Disaster Still There

Hurricane Long Gone --But – Disaster Still There

Just read the blog posting “Rumble: Hurricane Felix” by Peter Casier. The pictures speak volumes! He is so are so right when he says: “Even though the hurricane occurred early September, and has long gone from the news headlines, people in Nicaragua are still dealing with the aftermath of the disaster”. {theroadtothehorizon.blogspot.com/2007/09/rumble-hurricane-felix.html}

Thank you Peter for continuing to remind everyone that once the winds stop blowing and rain ceases to pelt the region, there is still a devastation that is beyond measure for those (human and animal) who must reclaim their lives under the harshness of the situation. Depending on the country, economic situation for all concerned and the quality of the infrastructure the hurricane recovery process can be years to even lifetimes.

This also brings me back to Disaster Affected Distant Grief. Just imagine how it must feel to be a loved one living in some other country that sees pictures like this. No matter if they have loved ones still in Nicaragua or not, the heart connection is great, the frustration and grief tremendous These emotions are compounded even more so by guilt that they are out of that terrible situation and a deep desire not acted on that they want to return to help.
